Vacay in LA

UPDATE: I have been got in the "friendly" game of assassins...by my own partner! I wasn't even his target, however, he snatched the spoon out of my hands and the person after me swooped in and tapped me with the spoon (aka the murder weapon). I'm not mad, It's fine.

Peep the Hollywood sign. It's actually pretty tiny

Andddd we're back! I am currently in the midst of my Spring Break and its busy busy. This year, I finally get to spend my Spring break somewhere other than Illinois. A couple of my best friends hit up Los Angeles, California and it's been quite the time! I currently have two and a half days until I go back to campus and I am dreading every moment of it. On top of that, I still have some homework and Senior project to worry about but I know I will we procrastinating until last minute. Welp, I'm just going to have to wing it.

Let Spring Break Commence!

First off, I just want to thank my professors from the bottom of my heart for canceling my Friday classes before break. Obviously, they knew no one would show up anyway, so they decided let my break start a little early! However, my buddy still had class so I had to wait on him. So what do you do to kill time you ask? Pack! I was supposed to pack the night before, but I cannot stand packing and procrastination is also my forte. Once all was packed, I picked up my friend and we hit the road to my place only to wake up at four in the morning to catch our flight.

Litty Los Angeles (Literally)

So I totally forgot weed was legalized in the state of California. Upon arriving I saw a billboard advertisement that said, "Hello marijuana, goodbye stress". After thinking about it for a couple seconds, I realized that weed was actually used for recreational use and it's normalized in LA. The culture shock was unreal and I smelled it constantly almost at every block I walked down in the city. It's so funny because my nose can smell it instantly since my job as an RA is to pinpoint it and prohibit residents from smoking. And in case you're wondering, no I did not smoke...I'm not that wild.

 Let's go to the Beach!

I spent the weekend at Santa Monica beach and got some sun. Unfortunately I took this picture when it was cloudy, but it it cleared up later in the day. Since it's still technically "winter" in LA the coldest it gets is about 50 to 60 degrees here. We were lucky enough to experience 80 degree weather the first couple of days. No matter how hot it is, don't be fooled, the water is still freezing and the tide is a force to be reckoned with! I haven't been on a beach in 9 years so it was like reliving great memories. It was definitely a moment to remember.

The Price is Right

My friend was able to hook us up with tickets for special Fourth of July taping of The Price is Right. The entire experience was totally awesome! I got to see what the show is really like and how the production crew handle takes in between the commercials. Sadly, phones had to be confiscated during the show for confidential reasons. Technically, it's supposed to be on the down low to protect the winning candidates but I can't even remember it due to the amount of shouting and clapping that we were told to make. That's right, they make sure everyone is pumped for the show because you're camera. They don't want you to look dead on camera or else it will look bad and they would have to reshoot during commercial break.Yep, that's behind the scenes work from Hollywood. Overall, it was a cool experience. Let's just say this show is not for introverted people like me. Also I suck at guessing prices so I would fail hardcore if I were a contestant. Also, make sure to catch friends and I on camera for a hot 3 seconds this Fourth of July!!! Come on down!

That being said, I'll save you the tacky tourist stuff one normally does. I'll be enjoying my vacation with the time I have left. Peace to all, goodnight!

#stress

What's up? This week I am back and will cover some days I've either enjoyed or days that are filled with stress! Don't worry, it's mainly good days! First off, the senioritis and stress are in full swing as I balance on with my Senior project, deadlines, and social life. The ride isn't over yet, so let's jump in Friday After my working out with one of my buddies at Markin we decided to hit up Corelife Eatery because nothing better like eating healthy food after a good workout! (We had coupons for a free meal so we took advantage). Let me just say Corelife is a really nice place to eat at. I believe they opened a little over a year ago and I tried it for the first time last year as well. While the food is good, I feel like it's missing some sort of flavor to it. I ended up getting a chicken noodle and rice broth bowl (essentially chicken noodle soup) and I thought it was meh. Since it's Corelife, there needs to be some sort of healthy greens added ...

Countdown

Hey guys, hope you're wrapping up your semesters nicely. This is it Seniors, we're basically a month out to graduation. With so little time left, there's a lot to get done. Portfolios, final projects, papers, AHHH! Granted, my finals schedule is pretty laid back, however, the weeks leading up to finals is literally hell. I'll explain this shortly. Let's get going with this week's blog! A Day in the Windy City On Friday, I went on a day trip to Chicago with AIGA, a graphic design organization. This was a great opportunity for my friends and I to network with real creative directors in the city as well as get a feel for what a design agency is really like. Personally, I feel like I could see myself in a design agency because I like open workspace as well as a fun and creative environment. Also, one of the design agencies we visited does a lot of promotional ads for McDonald's so I thought that was actually neat. However, I can't imagine staring at...

Travel day

Hello all! Hope everyone is recovering well from their spring breaks. We're getting so close to the end of the year. By this time it feels repetitive since this is my fourth year at Bradley. It's always after spring break that the year snowballs and before we know it, the year is over. This time around it will be different for us Seniors because we won't be returning. Depending on how you look at it, this is the light at the end of the tunnel for some. For me, it's a mix of emotions. I'm ready to graduate, but I know I will miss the memories I've made in my shirt time here.  Zoo Day Anyhow, this past weekend was mainly traveling. Friday was my last full day in LA for Spring Break. I spent most of the day at the LA Zoo while looking at exotic animals. I personal favorite was watching a pack of flamingos. Fun fact of the blog: a pack of flamingos is called a flamboyance. Other animals I saw included, chimpanzees, giraffes, and other aquatic animals. Heres m...
