Hey guys, hope you're wrapping up your semesters nicely. This is it Seniors, we're basically a month out to graduation. With so little time left, there's a lot to get done. Portfolios, final projects, papers, AHHH! Granted, my finals schedule is pretty laid back, however, the weeks leading up to finals is literally hell. I'll explain this shortly. Let's get going with this week's blog!
Sunday was honestly the highlight of my weekend because Game of Thrones finally returned. I've been waiting two years for this show to come back and I am an avid fan of the show. My friends and I decided to host a watch party. Before hand, I ended up coming over hours before just to catch up on the previous season as well as work on homework. Somehow, I managed to stay productive and watch at the same time, but once the clock hit eight, I was all eyes and ears. The chills I got once the intro kicked in was otherworldly. It was good to see the show back but also sad to know it was ending only after six episodes this season. Oh well, all good things must come to an end. I will miss the show so much and its been on air since I was in 8th grade. Wow!
A Day in the Windy City
On Friday, I went on a day trip to Chicago with AIGA, a graphic design organization. This was a great opportunity for my friends and I to network with real creative directors in the city as well as get a feel for what a design agency is really like. Personally, I feel like I could see myself in a design agency because I like open workspace as well as a fun and creative environment. Also, one of the design agencies we visited does a lot of promotional ads for McDonald's so I thought that was actually neat. However, I can't imagine staring at meat and garnished burgers forever because I'd get sick just looking at it. Really though, the agency was still really cool to experience and landing a first job in the city would be neat. At this point, I would even settle for an internship because those opportunities can turn into a full-time position. The two agencies we visited were Pivot Design, on Clark Street and We Are Unlimited on Michigan Avenue. It was a jam packed day but also a very tiring one. Really good experience with agencies that give good advice to upcoming graduates.
GAME OF THRONES
Wow!National Stress Day
WARNING, minor rant: So apparently yesterday, Tuesday, was National Stress Day, but why designate a day for that when it's literally everyday for me? To add to that, I my professor in my Geology class (Ok, this is a 100 level course but it's still is annoying and time consuming) assigned a final project in addition to a project my team and I are working on that's due this Friday. Also, we have a third exam coming and a cumulative final to top it all off. I understand that this class doesn't require too much brain power, but I'm a little pissed that I need to worry about something so trivial when I have a portfolio to work on, job searching, and graduation. I also plan on going home for Easter so trying to get anything done while I'm home will be the ultimate challenge
Anyway, apologies for that, but the stress is at an all time high the next few weeks. Please get me to bar crawl in one piece...and end it in one piece too.
I don't really think you can call it the final semester of senior year/end of the school year without practically peeing yourself from stress. I'm sorry to hear about your Geology class! That sounds like the last thing needed at this time of year, and man, I am so glad I am done with miscellaneous classes.
ReplyDeleteI am also a huge Game of Thrones fan and was waiting for so long for this episode to come out. I thought it was awesome how they brought characters back together that we haven't seen interact in a long time. It got me very excited for the rest of the season but, as you said, I am so sad this is the end of it all. I wrote my blog on the first episode this week if you want to check it out!
ReplyDeleteOur Geology professor made our final cumulative as well which is extremely frustrating for a 100 level course. Thats irritating that you also have a final project. Our teacher has also sprung on us a group presentation that he has n e v e r mentioned at all during the course. Maybe both of our professors got together to plot something
