Weekend Fever

This week's blog post is brought to you by Advil and Tylenol. This is what literally got me through this weekend because I came down with a fever. Of all times of the year, my body decided to catch a fever during the last craziest weeks of school. Logically, I suppose this makes sense because my stress levels are getting out of control. Luckily, I my fever broke within the day I got it, but I am still recovering.

Easter weekend

This weekend was spent at home for Easter. I got to see my family which was nice for a change. I didn't really get to spend much time over Spring Break because I was in LA so it was great to catch up and hang out. All of Friday, I decided to hunker down and work at Starbucks. I literally tried to do everything there in the seven hours I spent. Most of the time was dedicated in finishing up my Senior portfolio show. In addition to that, I also worked on building my website for my online portfolio as well as applying for jobs. I've never been overwhelmed with life sitting in a coffee shop. Eventually, I I noticed people coming and going and I felt like I was over staying my welcome so eventually I left after being there for a while. But hey, I was still a decent customer and bought a matcha latte.

 Saturday

Unfortunately, the Saturday rolled around and I woke up with a fever. You can imagine getting out of bed was a struggle and it definitely was. I HATE getting sick especially if its a fever. Laying in bed all day and taking medicine makes me feel like a zombie with a pounding headache. Throughout times of the day I would wake up and feel ok, then shut my eyes and doze off for another hour or so. One of the times, I woke up sweating which a sign my fever broke and others, I would wake up with chills. Luckily, that same night my fever broke for good, but I was still feeling weak so I just spent the rest of it resting. However, the thought of resting over getting work done was killing me. The mindset of a true workaholic...

Easter Sunday

The next day, I spent with my family and we all went to my Mom's church. I don't attend Church as much as I should but I really enjoyed the Sermon that morning. The pastor related the Sermon to The Avengers and how these characters and stories can be related to biblical references. This is something I really appreciated because I have attended the Church and the morning service before so all of the Pastor's Sermons are very relatable and modernized. After that, my family and I ate at a restaurant in Bur Ridge called, Cooper's Hawk. FYI, this place has good wine and good mimosas! After that, I hung out for a little while until it was time to hit the road. I said goodbye to family and told them the next time I'd see them was graduation. I was shook.

Comments

  1. God bless Advil and Tylenol. Sick days aren't any fun, but sometimes I come back from them more rested than if I had purposefully slept when I was supposed to. Still sounds like a pretty productive weekend though, you've got this.

  3. Reminds me of the end of last semester when we were assigned the Civic Center group project and then two days later I spent two full weeks with a fever no lower than 102 degrees to 104.5 degrees every night. For everyone's sake I tried to stay home as often as I could but I felt terrible not helping my group in person. I am glad it happened then and not this semester though. Glad you recovered pretty fast, take some vitamin C tablets and enjoy the sun...if it comes out.

#stress

What's up? This week I am back and will cover some days I've either enjoyed or days that are filled with stress! Don't worry, it's mainly good days! First off, the senioritis and stress are in full swing as I balance on with my Senior project, deadlines, and social life. The ride isn't over yet, so let's jump in Friday After my working out with one of my buddies at Markin we decided to hit up Corelife Eatery because nothing better like eating healthy food after a good workout! (We had coupons for a free meal so we took advantage). Let me just say Corelife is a really nice place to eat at. I believe they opened a little over a year ago and I tried it for the first time last year as well. While the food is good, I feel like it's missing some sort of flavor to it. I ended up getting a chicken noodle and rice broth bowl (essentially chicken noodle soup) and I thought it was meh. Since it's Corelife, there needs to be some sort of healthy greens added ...

Countdown

Hey guys, hope you're wrapping up your semesters nicely. This is it Seniors, we're basically a month out to graduation. With so little time left, there's a lot to get done. Portfolios, final projects, papers, AHHH! Granted, my finals schedule is pretty laid back, however, the weeks leading up to finals is literally hell. I'll explain this shortly. Let's get going with this week's blog! A Day in the Windy City On Friday, I went on a day trip to Chicago with AIGA, a graphic design organization. This was a great opportunity for my friends and I to network with real creative directors in the city as well as get a feel for what a design agency is really like. Personally, I feel like I could see myself in a design agency because I like open workspace as well as a fun and creative environment. Also, one of the design agencies we visited does a lot of promotional ads for McDonald's so I thought that was actually neat. However, I can't imagine staring at...

Travel day

Hello all! Hope everyone is recovering well from their spring breaks. We're getting so close to the end of the year. By this time it feels repetitive since this is my fourth year at Bradley. It's always after spring break that the year snowballs and before we know it, the year is over. This time around it will be different for us Seniors because we won't be returning. Depending on how you look at it, this is the light at the end of the tunnel for some. For me, it's a mix of emotions. I'm ready to graduate, but I know I will miss the memories I've made in my shirt time here.  Zoo Day Anyhow, this past weekend was mainly traveling. Friday was my last full day in LA for Spring Break. I spent most of the day at the LA Zoo while looking at exotic animals. I personal favorite was watching a pack of flamingos. Fun fact of the blog: a pack of flamingos is called a flamboyance. Other animals I saw included, chimpanzees, giraffes, and other aquatic animals. Heres m...
